Pet Source

Updated: Nov 8, 2018

Locally-owned pet supply store is a great place for a bath (for Fido)

Tanner didn't feel much like smiling for the camera.

Like a lot of retail, big boxes and e-commerce have come to dominate the pet supply industry. But until Amazon agrees to send Jeff Bezos over to clean the dog hair out of our tub, we'll be glad to have places like Pet Source on Spartanburg Highway around!

“Leslie and I don't like giving baths any more than Tanner and Abby like getting them, but it's quite a bit easier with all the supplies including air dryers provided, and nice raised tubs that somebody else will clean!”

Pet Source is one of Henderson County's locally-owned pet supply stores, having been around since 1999. They don't sell animals (that's a good thing for a pet store - please support a shelter or rescue organization!) but they've got a great selection of pet foods including a rather impressive "treat bar" with quite the variety of doggies biscuits available in bulk. The proceedings are supervised by a the resident parrots and dogs.

The main reason we go to Pet Source regularly, though, is for the DIY dog bath, which might

also come in handy for visitors to the area whose canine companions accompany them on outdoor, possibly muddy or dirty adventures. Leslie and I don't like giving baths any more than Tanner and Abby like getting them, but it's quite a bit easier with all the supplies including air dryers provided, and nice raised tubs that somebody else will clean! And the dogs are at least a bit more compliant if we've given them a good walk at the nearby Park at Flat Rock before bath time. The cost for the dog wash is $10 for dogs up to 25 pounds, and $15 for those bigger than that.

How to Find It

Pet Source is located at 1927 Spartanburg Highway in Hendersonville, just about five minutes from downtown Hendersonville.
